All authorized original Hummel figurines produced by W. Goebel, W. Germany will be marked with a M. I. Hummel script signature incised somewhere along the base of the ceramic piece, along with a Goebel trademark back stamp. The signature is for Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel who left us with over 500 sketches and paintings, now known as Hummel art. It would be considered a reproduction, Hummel-like or imitator/fake if there is no script signature present.
